The summer holidays are almost upon us again and it can be difficult to come up with ideas about what to do. If it is your only holiday of the year then you want it to be perfect. Here are 6 great ideas for your 2018 summer holidays.
French Alps
The French Alps offer stunning natural scenery, quaint villages, and plenty of activities throughout the summer for people of all ages. You can visit Chamonix and spend your time in heated pools, go swimming at Lac de Passy. Be sure to visit the Merlet Animal Park where you can see deer, llamas and marmots. Hop on a train and visit Montenvers-Mer de Glace.
Kerala, India
Kerala is a state in the south west of India and is a great place to spend your summer holiday. You can rent a boathouse with all the modern amenities and ride through the canals throughout the state while watching scenic views of traditional villages and forests. Go on safari at Periyar National Park where you can see tigers, elephants, sambar deer and the Indian bison. Rent a cottage in Munnar where you can gaze at the beautiful tea gardens. If you have time, there are plenty of other great places in India to explore too, whilst you are here it is worth trying to fit in seeing as much as possible.
Mexico City
Mexico City is the densely populated capital city of Mexico in Central America. Join a free guided walking tour and visit the Templo Mayor, a 13th century Aztec Temple, and the art gallery Palacio de Bellas Artes that features murals from the famous Diego Rivera. Spend at least a day exploring The Chapultepec, an expansive park that is 1700 acres and offers various attractions and a zoo. Be sure to visit the National Museum of Anthropology to learn about the renowned Mayan and Aztec history. You can also visit the Pyramid of the Sun which was constructed in 200 BCE. The Algarve, Portugal
The Algarve has fantastic beaches and is a great place for a summer holiday. It is also a wine region and has many wine tasting places to visit to and spend your day strolling through the beautiful vineyards and taste the fine wines. Be sure to spend a day at Cape St Vincent where you can walk along the cliffs and see the pounding sea below. Spend a day at The Praia da Rocha and make sure you try the fabulous fish and chips. Tavira is a great place for a long weekend, and you can enjoy some dining out at some delicious restaurants and strolling around the cobbled streets. If you are interested in surfing, then head to Praia do Amado where you can get great surfing all year round.
Cyprus
Cyprus lies in the eastern Mediterranean and is popular for its rugged interior, spectacular beaches and wine regions. Take a romantic stroll to Petra tou Romiou, a rock formation near a scenic beach that is known as the birthplace of the Greek goddess of love Aphrodite. Get your adrenaline racing and try bungee jumping at Nissi Beach. Be sure to visit Coral Bay where you can try snorkeling or just relax in the sun. Cyprus has plenty of luxurious villas with pools which are perfect for days when you just want to enjoy some peace and quiet. If you are used to driving on the left hand side, then you’ll be pleased to know that you drive on the left in Cyprus too, so it is easy to rent a car and explore the island without the stress of driving on the ‘wrong’ side.
Whistler, Canada
Fly into Vancouver, rent a vehicle, and take a drive along the stunning Sea to Sky highway to Whistler. Whistler is a great place for a summer vacation as it offers many trekking trails and bear watching tours. You can also enjoy live concerts, art demos, and outdoor movies and kids craft stations. You can get an accommodation with your own kitchens or visit Whistlers restaurants for a lovely dinner. Go for a ride on one of the gondolas or spend a day playing golf at the prestigious Furry Creek golf course.
