Last week I only posted ONE blog post so I feel like I should make it up by making this one super-awesome.
This week I attended the Sydney Writer’s Festival – I went to a panel called “Is This Just a Fantasy?” and also TeenCon.
But first let’s go through this super-awesome book haul.
Props to the publishers for giving us a massive bag of goodies at Teen Con.
FROM THE TOP –
THE BONE SEASON – I have heard good things about this one.
LADY HELEN AND THE DARK DAYS CLUB – Regency London, woo!
ZEROES – I have a strange feeling I wouldn’t enjoy this one but we’ll see.
BREATHING UNDER WATER – this one was from Hachette and came in surprise wrapping paper which was fun. It’s about twins and surfing so yay!
THE SERPENT KING – Jeff Zentner’s Twitter is hilarious, I’m just saying. AND ALSO, this got TONS of praise from the Bookstagram community (even though I haven’t seen many reviews, which is weird. Clearly I’m not reading the right blogs).
PRINCESS OF THE MIDNIGHT BALL – this is a retelling of The Twelve Dancing Princesses and I just picked it up on a whim from the library. Also I want to write a retelling of The Twelve Dancing Princesses.
SINCE YOU’VE BEEN GONE – I’m seriously SO excited this was in my bag at TeenCon because my sister LOST my copy and I still haven’t forgiven her for it.
NIGHT BEACH – Ever since I read Summer Skin I’ve needed more Kirsty Eagar in my life
THE LEAVING – sounds creeptastic!
ONE WOULD THINK THE DEEP – FUN FACT I actually met Claire Zorn and hopefully managed not to make a fool out of myself. She’s one of my FAVOURITE authors and this new book isn’t even in stores yet so I feel kind of special.
IN-BETWEEN DAYS – another Vikki Wakefield, woo!
THE LAST GOOD DAY OF THE YEAR – it has a fantastic cover and that’s why I’m excited
ONLY EVER YOURS – I feel like this is going to be similar to The Handmaid’s Tale in that it will be very intense and make me angry and it’ll be brilliant.
EDGAR ALLEN POE – the prettiest book in the world.
SO NOW. TEENCON.
The beautiful Walsh Bay
This is out of order but ANYWAY this is the “This is Just a Fantasy” panel – Michael Grant, Jack Heath, Claire Zorn and Jay Kristoff. What a bunch of awesome authors. They talked about fantasy and sci-fi and NASA. Just the usual.
This was TeenCon! All the publishers promoted their recent titles and their upcoming releases. Some of them look SO EXCITING.
Stealing Snow was described as “Frozen for adults” so basically I need it in my life
MICHAEL GRANT. We had an excellent chat about signing body parts rather than books. It was a good time.
I don’t actually have any photos of me and the other bloggers because my phone died on me.
BUT lots of the others took photos so I’m sure you’ll be seeing them in recaps soon.
Basically it was an amazing time, and it was great to meet people that I’ve only ever talked to online.
And none of them were 50-year-old men! Amazing!
Here are some of my other adventures of late:
San Churro’s with the grandparents // the green building near UTS
Other adventures involved mainly drinking and dancing but I don’t have photos of those. Which is possibly a good thing.
OH, also, if you want to keep up with my shenanigans you can follow my personal Instagram which is new!
Lately on Bookstagram…
So yeah obviously you should follow me here too. I’m having an awesome giveaway when I get to 1000 followers so DO IT.
That’s it for this week! I have about a million assignments due before the end of semester (IT’S GONE SO QUICKLY) so I’ll be on sporadically, but you can always see me on Twitter. Have you ever been to a book/blogging event? What was it like?
